Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect the personal information you share with Rishte Bandhan's Jain Matrimony platform.

1. Information We Collect

When you register and use Rishte Bandhan, we collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Account details: full name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email address, and password.
  • Profile information: physical attributes, marital status, religion, sect, sub-sect, community, gotra, education, occupation, income, family details, lifestyle preferences, and partner preferences.
  • Photographs you upload to your profile, along with your chosen visibility setting for each one.
  • Payment information processed through our payment partner, Razorpay, when you purchase a membership plan. We do not store your full card, UPI or bank details on our servers.
  • Communications you send us, including support requests, reports, and messages exchanged with other members through the platform.
  • Technical data such as IP address, device type, browser, and usage patterns, collected automatically to keep the platform secure and functioning.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and operate your profile, and to power search, matching and recommendation features.
  • To verify your identity via One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered email.
  • To process membership payments, activate plans, and generate invoices.
  • To send you service-related communications: OTPs, match alerts, connection requests, membership renewal reminders, and admin notices about your photos or account.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, fake profiles, and abuse of the platform.
  • To improve our services, troubleshoot issues, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal information for purposes unrelated to operating the matrimonial platform without asking for your consent first.

3. Photo Privacy & Approval

Every photo you upload is reviewed by our admin team before it becomes visible to any other user. Approved photos are shown according to the visibility setting you choose for each one:

  • Public — visible to all logged-in members.
  • Connections Only — visible only to members whose interest request you have accepted.
  • Private — hidden by default; you individually approve or deny each request to view it.

You may change a photo's visibility, or delete a photo, at any time from your account.

4. Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Other members can see the profile information and approved photos you choose to make visible, per Section 3 above and your membership tier's contact-unlock permissions.
  • Service providers who help us operate the platform — for example, Razorpay for payment processing, and our email delivery provider for sending OTPs and notifications. These providers are contractually restricted from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rishte Bandhan, our members, or the public.

5. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites for advertising purposes, and Rishte Bandhan does not display third-party ads.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage, HTTPS encryption in transit, CAPTCHA and rate-limiting on sensitive actions, and restricted admin access to personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 10).

8. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access and review the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information via your profile settings.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data.
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

Rishte Bandhan is intended solely for individuals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will take steps to remove it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you via email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
